Interval Trainer

A musical interval is the distance between two notes — the gap you hear when one pitch moves to another. Recognizing them on sight and by ear underpins sight-singing, transcribing, and improvising. This trainer covers every interval from the minor 2nd to the octave; each question shows two notes on the staff and asks you to name the gap.

Session size

How to use

Pick a difficulty and session size, then start training to see two notes on the staff.
Look at the gap between the notes — and reference the keyboard below the staff — to work out the interval.
Choose the interval’s name from the answer buttons; the trainer immediately tells you if you were right.
Keep going through the session — repetition is what turns slow counting into instant recognition.
As your accuracy climbs, step up the difficulty to add 2nds, 3rds, 6ths, 7ths, and the tritone.
