F/G Piano Chord
F/G is a F Major chord played over a G bass note. G is not one of the notes of F Major (F – A – C), so F/G is an added-bass (true) slash chord — the bass adds a new colour underneath the chord without changing the notes on top.
The dark key is the bass note (G); the coloured keys are the F Major chord tones.
Notes in F/G
Low to high: G (bass) , then F – A – C.
How to play F/G
Play the bass note G low in your left hand, and the F Major chord (F – A – C) in your right. Keeping the chord shape familiar in the right hand and just changing the bass is what makes slash chords easy to read and play.
